One of the things I’m very passionate about is painting and crafting since I was little. I enjoy playing with colors and textures and have a lot of fun with my amazing students. Some of my students worry about the outcome of their work and I always respond by saying, “Don’t worry, messy work is beautiful!”, and they always giggle after hearing this.
I love watching everyone create their own version of my work and how intense concentration is filling the room. Art and crafts should be fun. You should never worry about how your creation will look. Make it fun! You and your loved ones will learn so much more if you do.
My art formula is:
Art + Fun = Beautiful Work
Create an Easy Flower Painting
Supplies needed:
- Brushes
- Acrylic paint
- Small canvas or canvas panel (5″x7″) or you can use canvas paper
- Paper towel
- Cardboard, newspaper or plastic cover to protect the table surface
- Plastic or glass jar to hold water for rinsing the brushes
- A pencil
- Flower template
- Optional: a sheet of carbon paper for tracing the printable flower template (if you are struggling with tracing the flower shape)
1. Print the template and draw the flower by hand while looking at the printout.
2. Do (a) or (b) below:
(a) Print the template and draw on the back of the printout with a pencil as shown below. Next, tape the paper (with the colored side against the canvas) to the canvas and trace along the lines.
(b) Print the template and use carbon paper to trace the flower onto the canvas.
Once you have the shape of the flower on the canvas, paint along the traced lines with black paint. For best results, let the paint dry before moving on to the next step.
Use different paint colors to add color to the different parts of the flower. Next, paint the background.
And there’s your finished painting!
