Beast Academy Math Curriculum

Beast Academy Math Curriculum

"Beast Academy was created by the Art of Problem Solving team that has trained tens of thousands of outstanding middle and high school math students since 1993. As we prepared these students for the rigors of top-tier universities and internationally-competitive careers, we often wondered why there aren't more students who enter middle school loving math the way AoPS students do.

Beast Academy is our attempt to solve this problem by presenting mathematics as the beautiful, creative discipline it is. We do so with challenging problems, engaging explanations, and a focus on the hows and whys of mathematics. It's the curriculum we wish we'd had when we were aspiring math beasts ourselves."

Beast Academy is a high-quality math curriculum which children who are good at math will most likely enjoy.

The textbooks are very original. They look like comic books (with high-quality glossy paper) which my daughter loves. However, we found that the curriculum can be quite challenging at times and as a result, my daughter requires a lot of my help. She didn't before switching to this curriculum.

In addition, the curriculum can get quite pricey for those living outside of the U.S. You might be lucky enough to find the curriculum in your country, but you'll probably have to pay a lot more for the books. We decided to buy directly from Beast Academy because of that, however, we ended up getting charged over $30 by the courier upon pickup (from their location).

Overall, I do like the curriculum, but I don't know if we'll continue with it since it doesn't seem to be a good fit for us. I would recommend this book for kids who think their math is boring and who have above average math skills. Also, this curriculum might be a better choice for the teaching parent who enjoys math because they might find themselves helping the child with the questions quite frequently.
